Since the Pro Tour, 《Aetherworks Marvel》grip on the Standard Meta has only gotten tighter. To combat this new top deck, what options do we have available? Well, Standard has that guy! Yes, I’m talking about 《Spell Queller》, and a clock permission based deck.
While the deck did lose 《Reflector Mage》and 《Smuggler's Copter》, so long as you can control the early game a 《Spell Queller》-> 《Gideon, Ally of Zendikar》 -> 《Archangel Avacyn》 will beat nearly anything. This is where 《Glory-Bound Initiate》 shines, trading up easily and with his ability to gain lifelink by exerting makes it impractical for an opponent to aggro you down.
In addition, the cycling abilities on 《Censor》 and 《Irrigated Farmland》 makes curving out nicely an easier task and allows you to not waste any mana. Compared to before it is also quite a bit easier to side-in double blue cards due to a better mana base.
The longer into the span of a Standard meta we get the more midrange decks tend to prevail, as such 《Spell Queller》 should have plenty of good targets to choose from. For those of you planning on visit a larger tournament, it might serve you well to consider 《Spell Queller》 for your deck.

When you hear of 《Goblin Charbelcher》 one usually thinks of the Legacy deck, however there have been attempts to make it work in Modern before. This time we have a UW Belcher deck trying it’s hardest to be a real deck.
So, maybe you thought how does a UW colored deck go about utilizing 《Goblin Charbelcher》? In Modern we have a useful card called 《Endless Horizons》 which removes all 《Plains》 from your library making a single 《Goblin Charbelcher》 activation a guaranteed = you win!
The deck also Plays 《Ghostly Prison》 & 《Sphere of Safety》 to stave of attackers, with 《Goblin Charbelcher》 acting as the wincon this deck will be remarkably hard to interact with in Game 1. To take deck concepts or cards that seem absurd or worthless at first glance and turn them into something that can win is what every deckbuilder aspires to do. Especially in Modern where the possibilities to attacking from a weird angle is there. It just goes to show that you shouldn’t give up just because others failed to find a place for that card you want to play.

Today i decided to check out some UW decks in Legacy, and well when it comes to UW, Miracles is probably where you would go. With the banning of 《Sensei's Divining Top》 most people expected Miracles to be a dead deck, and most players truly wished for it to never come back. However, here we are with Miracle decklists still putting up 5-0 records on MTGO and it actually looks like an interesting deck! Since there is no 《Sensei's Divining Top》 to rely on the deck cuts 《Counterbalance》. Instead it packs 《Counterspell》 and 《Predict》 to take the shape of an orthodox control deck.
How to cast miracles efficiently without Top you ask? By playing 《Brainstorm》, 《Ponder》 and the new addition 《Portent》 combined with 《Jace, the Mind Sculptor》 gives the deck the ability to manipulate topdecks on nearly the same level as before, although a bit differently.
The deck uses 《Unexpectedly Absent》as it’s single-target removal of choice, which also helps make 《Predict》 incredibly powerful. Allowing you to easily draw 2 cards, and helps Miracles still be a deck after the ban. I think we’re in for a very exciting period in the history of Legacy!
