Occupation / Hobbies outside MTG:
I just finished a master’s program in decision theory at Stanford and I’m looking for a job now. I like biking, writing, and music.
When did you start Magic? Which set? How did you discover the game?
I started playing Magic during “Invasion” block after some kids at my school brought their older brothers’ cards to show and tell. I took a long break after “Morningtide”, then started playing again during college with “New Phyrexia”.
Previous Achievements
Pro Tour: Winner of Pro Tour 25th Anniversary.
Grand Prix: Winner of GP Albuqueque 2016 (Limited) and Top 8 at GP Las Vegas 2017 (Modern).
Who is the Magic player that you respect?
My favorite Magic player is Andrew Cuneo. I got a lot better watching his stream circa 2015, and I appreciate his style and attitude towards life.
If you have one, who is your favorite Japanese Player and why?
I really admire all the big Japanese pros: Tomoharu Saito, Shouta Yasooka, Yuuya Watanabe, Kenji Tsumura, Kentaro Yamamoto, Ken Yukuhiro, Makihito Mihara, etc.
I’m always excited to see what the Japanese contingent brings to each Pro Tour, and everyone plays so impeccably. Saito’s UW Humans deck from “M13” Standard and Mihara’s 4C Reanimator deck from “Gatecrash” Standard were two of the first decks I succeeded with on Magic Online.
Favorite MTG Decks and Card:
Format | Deck | Card |
---|---|---|
Standard | 《Rally the Ancestors》Combo (“OGW” Standard) |
《Catacomb Sifter》 |
Modern | 《Martyr of Sands》Control | 《Thraben Inspector》 |
Legacy | Death and Tax | 《Thalia, Guardian of Thraben》 |
Favorite MTG Format:
Legacy or 1v1 Commander.
What got you interested in joining the Hareruya Pros?
I mostly wanted to team with my friends. The sleeves and gear are a nice perk.
Next goal as Magic player:
I don’t have any particular goals. I’m just looking to have fun and share cool experiences with my friends.
Message for Readers:
Please cheer for me. I hope to show you some sweet decks and good finishes.
