Occupation / Hobbies outside MTG:
I recently graduated with a degree in Linguistics. I mostly just play Magic but enjoy other games.
When did you start Magic? Which set? How did you discover the game?
I started playing Magic around “Betrayers of Kamigawa”. My dad had cards when I was growing up so I always knew about the game, but my close friend got me into it around that time.
Previous Achievements
Pro Tour: 7th place at Pro Tour 25th Anniversary.
Grand Prix: Top 8 at GP Denver 2016 (Standard) and GP Phoenix 2017 (Limited).
Who is the Magic player that you respect?
I highly respect Gerry Thompson, in both his approach to thinking about Magic and his contributions to the Magic community.
If you have one, who is your favorite Japanese Player and why?
My favorite Japanese player is Yuuya Watanabe, it’s a somewhat biased answer because in the modern era of Magic he has a lot of interesting feature matches I can watch online and learn from.
Favorite MTG Decks and Card:
Format | Deck | Card |
---|---|---|
Standard | Mono Blue Paradox Combo | 《Karn, Scion of Urza》 |
Modern | 《Krark-Clan Ironworks》 | 《Engineered Explosives》 |
Legacy | No particular deck | 《Ponder》 |
Favorite MTG Format:
Modern. I started playing with cards from “Mirridon” and “Kamigawa”, so it feels like the Modern card pool is everything I’ve experienced growing up with Magic.
What got you interested in joining the Hareruya Pros?
I like the idea of connecting internationally with other high level players.
Next goal as Magic player:
I always want to improve, hopefully the results will follow.
Message for Readers:
I’m very excited for this season as I get to continue proving myself as a player while also teaming with my friends.
