Occupation / Hobbies outside MTG:
I am a student in Economic computer science at the TU Berlin.
When did you start Magic? Which set? How did you discover the game?
My older brother, now a chess grandmaster, taught me how to play when I was a small kid. That was around 2005. We played for a bit, but after a while we lost interest. At the age of 17 I went to a store with my younger brother, bought a theme deck for fun and relearned the game with him. I quickly fell in love with the game and it became my passion. The first set I drafted was Khans of Tarkir. And the first time I went to a store was during Fate Reforged. Everyone was super nice and made it easy for me to feel accepted. Magic was welcoming and filled in the before missing outlet for my competitive drive.
Previous Achievements
Pro Tour: Money finished 4 out of the last 5 Pro Tours.
Grand Prix: I top 8ed my 4th GP and won my 9th GP. 4 GP top 8s in total.
Other: 10-0 in Standard at Pro Tour Hour of Devastation (Fun fact: I am the only player who ever went 10-0 in Constructed at a PT and didn’t make top 8).
Who is the Magic player that you respect?
There are so many players I look up to. Reid Duke is the one that stands out. His videos and articles teached me how to think, how to play and how to be a professional.
If you have one, who is your favorite Japanese Player and why?
I like them all! I guess, if I had to pick, I pick Shouta Yasooka, because he plays quickly and loves control. Two things we have in common. Also the first standard deck I bought was UB Dragons, the deck Shouta made the finals of Pro Tour Dragons of Tarkir with.
Favorite MTG Decks and Card:
Format | Deck | Card |
---|---|---|
Standard | Esper Control | 《Teferi, Hero of Dominaria》 |
Modern | Jeskai Control | 《Snapcaster Mage》 |
Legacy | UW Miracles | 《Force of Will》 |
Favorite MTG Format:
Standard. I love the everchanging challenge. I love playing Legacy aswell.
What got you interested in joining the Hareruya Pros?
When a friend told me, after coming back from a trip to Japan, about the giant Hareruya Stores and how they hold tournaments every day, I couldn’t believe him and Hareruya instantly became “Magic Paradise” in my mind. I honestly only hear and see good things about Hareruya and I am honored to be a part of Hareruya Pros.
Next goal as Magic player:
Reach Platinum Status and Captaincy of Germany next season.
Message for Readers:
Magic is one of the best things that could have happened to my life. I didn’t have the easiest childhood. Magic made my depressions disappear and gave me purpose, something to strive for. Aswell as all amazing friends. I feel so thankful for everything that Magic has given me in those few years.
